What is Humidity Sensor Calibration?

Humidity calibration involves checking the accuracy of hygrometers and other humidity analysers and adjusting them accordingly for accuracy. These types of sensors require regular calibration to ensure they continue to operate within their specifications. GNW can calibrate a wide range of humidity meters, including relative humidity meters, thermohygrographs, psychrometers, digital indicators, probes, transmitters and many more.

Humidity calibration is an important parameter for many industrial and laboratory applications. Relative humidity is the amount of water vapour in air expressed as a percentage of the amount needed for saturation at the same temperature. Precise temperature readings are essential for achieving accurate relative humidity measurements. A temperature variance of just 1°C, can impact a humidity measurement by as much as 3-4%.

The types of moisture humidity meters that benefit from humidity calibration include:

  • Relative Humidity Meters
  • Digital Indicators
  • Digital Hygrometers
  • Thermohygrographs
  • Moisture Probes
  • Humidity Gauges
  • Moisture Meters
  • RH Transmitters
  • Environmental chambers
  • Psychrometers
  • Humidity Sensors
  • Weather Stations

How To Test a Humidity Sensor

Here at GNW, we use an environmental chamber that allows us to control both the temperature and humidity accurately to simulate the real world conditions faced by the instrument when in use.

Our technicians adjust the temperature and humidity within the chamber, and record readings over the full range of the instrument. We use a master humidity sensor within the chamber to give our technicians a known test value. The degree of deviation from those known values is what gives us a clear understanding of a relative humidity meter’s accuracy.

Types Of Industries We Service

The following industries can benefit from moisture and humidity calibration services:

  • Research & Development
  • Paper
  • Semiconductor
  • Composites
  • Construction
  • Facilities Management
  • Textiles
  • Energy
  • Packaging
  • Agriculture
  • Wood
  • Plastics

How Much Does Moisture Humidity Meter Calibration Cost?

The cost of a moisture humidity meter calibration depends on numerous factors, including the number and complexity of humidity meters requiring calibration. Not to mention whether you opt for an off-site humidity calibration at our dedicated facilities or an on-site calibration at your premises. We recommend speaking to one of our highly-experienced GNW advisers to discuss your requirements and obtain a free, no-obligation quote. Contact us today!
